I was given my first real camera sometime around 1990. At this time a thing called "film" was all the rage. Being the techno geek I am, I was very interested in the process of obtaining and developing my own pictures. Most of my work was in black and white at the time as it was mostly used in the context of photojournalism. Fast forward to the year 2007 beyond my dark days of point and shoot. A new era was born and I purchased my second real camera, a Canon EOS Rebel XT. For more about this fascinating hobby, follow the link above. (Coming Soon)
I wouldn't call this a hobby so much as I would call it an addiction. I imagine this began at an early age racing my Duke's of Hazzard slot cars around the track and over the jump. Today it has developed into a full fledged passion that has extended beyond my garage and into my career at General Motors. I have owned and experimented with several vehicles over the years. My interests have spanned everything from the blacktop to the deep woods. A history and technical data has been compiled and is available by following the link above.
A long time interest of mine. I suppose along with I need to throw and on the list as major interests of mine. I've visited a good number of places but have many more to visit before my time on this rock is through. Check out the My Travels link above to see where I have been and what I have done.
I took my first programming lesson in the 3rd grade. At the time I was tinkering with a Commadore 64. The computing power was overwelming. As the passion grew, so did the hardware. As I am sure you know, times have changed a little bit and the world of computers has taken over. My interest has expanded beyond the third grade. Now, a few years later, I have combined my passion for computers and my addiction to cars into a real life career. As you might have guessed, I spend some additional time outside of work pursuing this passion and developing my own webpage. I developed my first website in my dorm at Purdue in 1996. The internet has changed drastically since these days and my webpage has come a long way.
My first firearm was and still is a Sears and Roebuck bolt action .22 caliber rifle purchased by my father when he was just a boy for $25. Since then my collection has grown and the love of shooting with it.
This is my newest hobby. I went indoor rock climbing at Climb Time Indy a few years back with Mike and instantly loved it. It took a few years for this enjoyment to become a hobby. In 2007, John showed an interest in indoor climbing and we joined the gym. This has become routine and has me feeling more in shape and more energetic. I intend to keep at this for many years to come. Fortunately my new office is directly across the interstate from the climbing gym!
Who doesn't love fishing? Whether its sitting in a boat all day drinking beer and never catching anything but a buzz or strapping on some waders and chasing after monstrous trout in a cool brook. Fishing is a very relaxing past time.
A winter hobby of mine. I try to take on a project every winter for someone in the family. Lately my lack of free time has gotten the better of me but in the past I have made such pieces of artwork as Abby's Rocking Horse and Steve's Cutting Board.
